Texting with a girl I work with. She is younger than me, and gave me her number. We have been texting back and fourth. How can I find out if she likes me and how can I move forward into making something from it without making a big fuss. After all I dont make to make work awkward or come out looking like a loser being an older guy
Ask her out for a drink. If she goes out for a drink with you, then flirt and escalate, if she flirts back then you know she's interested
One major piece of advice Alex often gives on youtube which I think holds a lot of merits is you need to separate the work from the out of work, so no flirting at work or anything remotely suggestive. I'll add my one take to that saying try to minimize time with her at work so that you don't enforce the friendly coworker frame.
All your work needs to be done over text outside of work hours, and again since screenshots could be used against you if she decides to report harassment you have to text as if your texts will be read by HR and make sure you don't compromise yourself.
But you also need the result so I think the best approach is to try setting up a date by saying "hey I'm not doing anything this weekend wanna go grab a coffee together?' do not specify it to be a romantic date but also do not specify it is a friendly thing, the ambiguity will help build up interest. Also, do flirt over text but don't say anything sexual or too forward just use humor to your advantage to get her to think '"This guy is definitely worth my time".
On the date you treat it like a normal date, you flirt you escalate you sexualize the conversation when you can and if she goes along with it then you pull her back to your place, if not you never cross a hard line just so you can remain co-workers later, be a good sport about rejection that is important as well
