I usually get told my smile is nice by females but men say that men in general should try to not to smile too much in their photos ( the last one with the ocean water is the most liked on my instagram) . How should I balance this?

slightly below average, your first one is decent but that would be the only one i would use for the profile, checkout some of my videos/articles i have on tinder profiles and photos. Hope that helps man :)

Hire a photographer. Find someone who you vibe well with over the phone, and be explicit about what your goals are in dating. You're a good looking dude, so with solid pics I think you could clean up
The first one, and the one by the water, I'd scrap the rest. I always suggest sending these to chicks as well, they spot stuff that straight guys are going to miss.
Hey man, I’m not a photo expert, but I definitely think the one with you chilling on the bench is the best pic. Nice lightning, pose and overall vibe. If I were you, I’d try to go for more of a smug smile. Always works, just gotta be in the right mood for it. And remember, if this is for at dating profile, I’d also add a pic of you hanging out with some friends.
The only one I like out of this bunch is the first. The problem with these are that they're mostly similar. 6 out of 9 are literally the variations of the same photo. So, even if they were all awesome, you could only use 1. Do you have other options?
These are some I used a couple years ago when I was 18 but they aren’t as good. However at the time those gave me the most likes I ever did using tinder maybe because it was my first time ever on the app.( I know you say dont use selfies but im just showing a possible look I could maybe go for next time with a different hairstyle ) Most girls liked this first one but next time I take photos I will use your approach at picking out the best ones.
Yeah man. The look in the first picture work. I definitely prefer that over the braids
