one issue here is that your responses were kinda soft. It felt like you were trying to pussy foot around a bit. instead of saying "im not sure if this triggers you" i would have said "im honestly not into politics. I prefer to focus my energy on other areas of my life." or, you could have just said you were team bernie because it seemed like she was a liberal
