Some of you might have encountered this: Even after the soft close, and the girl agreed for some wine or so, sometimes it still comes up that they "won't give out the number so fast" etc. Usually I write something like "no problem, what else you wanna know?" How do you guys handle it? Or do you take it a s a major red flag?
I usually do soft close -> hard close -> number. In my opinion it feels more natural going for the hard close immediately after the soft close instead of asking for her number in between. If they won't send you their number after a successful hard close, which is rare, I usually don't make a big deal out of it. The date is your primary objective, not her number. You can also try something like "Don't worry, I won't spam your phone", but I'm not sure on this. Maybe Alex can chime in.
It's also easier if she has a reason to send you her number. I had a girl that asked me where she could park her car and I told her to send me her number so I can send her Google Maps coordinates
