Rejection Is Okay
Went on a first date today, she was into me at first but she asked how long I’ve been separated. I’m honest so I said 6 months and her body language completely changed. She started checking the time on her phone and gave me the “no connection” response at the end saying she wants a guy who’s been single longer. It felt bad, she was cute and I liked her vibe, but it wasn’t meant to be. When I started dating I took rejection extremely personally and would feel like a complete loser on the way home. But I kept watching what I eat, kept going to the gym, and rejection is happening much less, and when it does happen I know there’s someone else out there . When you start off, especially if you’re very overweight like I was, rejection will happen a lot. You don’t look your best at all, you’re nervous, you’re too eager for a romantic outcome so you’re cringe. It does get better if you put the effort and time into improving your health and social skills. There’ll be a lot of failed dates. After all that rejection, it feels so good when you get your first kiss, first make out, first sexual touching, first lay, first repeat lay, etc. after entering the dating scene or re-entering like I did.
